Welcome to Palmerosa Campground and Cabins

We are so happy you found us!

You will discover that Palmerosa Campground and Cabins is a serene, quiet and peaceful country campground nestled in the heart of the Hocking Hills, Ohio. Nearby the beautiful Hocking Hills State Park, we are just a hop, skip and a jump away from many great places for the whole family to visit! Head over to Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Rockhouse, Conkle's Hollow, Whispering Cave, Cedar Falls or Cantwell Cliffs to view nature in all her glory.
Enjoy the convenience of our location also very close to the State Bridle Trails.

Find your nature spot and enjoy how you choose to camp! Come and stay with us in your RV, your tent or choose one of our fully renovated cabins to experience the magic for yourself. Guests do not have to have or bring horses to camp at our campground and can still enjoy the unique experience seeing guest horses during your stay!

About the Campground

** WE ARE ACTIVELY WORKING ON CAMPGROUND IMPROVEMENTS. WE WILL UPDATE PICTURES THIS (2024) SEASON. MANY SITE IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE SO FAR FROM WHAT THE PICTURES SHOW. SOME SITE NUMBERS MAY HAVE CHANGED FROM YOUR LAST VISIT**

We welcome all campers to the Hocking Hills! If you are looking for a campground with some shade trees or a little space between the sites...look no further...We are about 8 miles from Old Man's cave...other Cave systems are even closer!

Palmerosa Campground and Cabins has been around for many years as a horse camp. Although we do not have horses of our own here at the campground; there are local operators that are near to us that you can reserve a horse to ride the trails as part of a guided tour. We can also recommend a guide that will come to the campground to lead you and your own horse out on the Horse/Bridle trials. (Email us for details). In late 2022, we added 10 covered corrals/stalls to keep your horse mostly out of the weather. (You do not have to camp near the corrals/stalls in order to rent them). Each corral/stall must be booked separately from the sites.

We not only accommodate the horse community, but we also welcome all RV, Travel Trailers, and tent campers. Most sites will accommodate up to 35 ft. Lengths easily. We have few sites that can accommodate up to 60 ft. in combined lengths.  All electric sites are 30 AMP Service.

We offer 40 camping sites (14 with electric/water hook-up. All sites can be reserved for tent camping. There are 2 water spigots towards the rear of the campground in the primitive tent section also.

Horse and pet fees are $5.00 per horse and $5.00 per pet each night. Corrals/Stalls are not included in the price for sites. Reserve a site for yourself and then reserve a site (corral/stall) for your horse or for extra space to store your supplies.

We have 2 newly remodeled and fully appointed cabins with safe options for tending to your horses if you are here for trail rides and so much more! Parking at the cabins is limited to truck or car only. We have an additional space designated for your trailer that is near the cabin area.

We have 3 lockable private shower rooms with flushable toilets and vanities for guests to use which are located at the front office building. Obviously, we know that only 3 showers are not enough to accommodate the whole campground. However, we wanted to give a small amenity to our guests. This is more of a quick rinse off due to other campers that may be waiting. Please be mindful of that. There are 3 vault privies (outhouses) and 2 RV dump stations at the campground.

Our water supply is on a closed system, therefore in the month of November we will closely monitor the weather in order to winterize the water to the campground (to avoid freezing waterlines). Camping can continue through November due to our campground having vault privies (outhouses). The dump station and water to sites/corral area will be winterized. Campers will have to bring their own water supply.

Access to the Bridle Trail system does require a 0.10-mile ride mostly alongside Keifel Rd. to enter the end of the RED trail. There will be a 0.5-mile ride mostly alongside Keifel Rd. to enter the RED Trial going back to the State Horseman's Camp and the other Trail Systems. This 0.5-mile ride alongside Keifel Road is part of the RED TRAIL system and is a great warmup for your horse before entering the connecting trail systems and likewise a great cool down walk once exiting the trail system.

Hikers can also enter the State Bridle Trails on foot to hike the same trails and experience more sites than just our main Cave systems!!
